OUR CORE DOCTRINES
The Canadian Assemblies of God is founded on four key values: Salvation, Divine Healing, Baptism in the Holy Spirit, and the Second Coming of Christ. Salvation highlights God’s grace, offering forgiveness and new life through faith in Jesus. Divine Healing reflects Christ’s power to heal physically and spiritually. Baptism in the Holy Spirit empowers believers to live boldly and share their faith. The Second Coming of Christ gives hope for His return and eternal life. These values guide the church’s mission to share God’s love and truth with the world.

Salvation
A Core Value of the Canadian Assemblies of God
Salvation is the foundation of our Christian faith, proclaiming God's victory over sin and its transformative power in our lives. It brings deliverance, healing, and restoration, offering a second chance to all who believe. Through repentance and faith in Jesus Christ, we are reconciled to God and empowered to live a life of purpose and hope.
This truth is central to our mission as a church, shaping our lives, communities, and ministries. Whether new to faith or a mature believer, understanding and embracing salvation is essential to experiencing the fullness of God's grace and love.
Key Scriptures (NKJV):
-
John 3:16: "For God so loved the world that He gave His only begotten Son, that whoever believes in Him should not perish but have everlasting life."
-
Romans 6:23: "For the wages of sin is death, but the gift of God is eternal life in Christ Jesus our Lord."
-
Acts 3:19: "Repent therefore and be converted, that your sins may be blotted out, so that times of refreshing may come from the presence of the Lord."
-
Romans 10:9-10: "That if you confess with your mouth the Lord Jesus and believe in your heart that God has raised Him from the dead, you will be saved. For with the heart one believes unto righteousness, and with the mouth confession is made unto salvation."
-
2 Corinthians 5:17: "Therefore, if anyone is in Christ, he is a new creation; old things have passed away; behold, all things have become new."
-
Ephesians 2:8-9: "For by grace you have been saved through faith, and that not of yourselves; it is the gift of God, not of works, lest anyone should boast."
-
Titus 2:11-12: "For the grace of God that brings salvation has appeared to all men, teaching us that, denying ungodliness and worldly lusts, we should live soberly, righteously, and godly in the present age."

Divine Healing
Wherever Jesus went, He ministered with compassion and healed the sick, demonstrating the power of God and the connection between healing and salvation. His death on the cross not only provides forgiveness of sin but also healing for sickness. The Canadian Assemblies of God believes that Christ continues to heal today, and it is vital for the church to preach, teach, and practice this biblical truth.
Believers are commanded in Scripture to pray in faith for healing and trust God for the outcome. Divine healing is a privilege for believers today, made possible through Christ’s atoning work on the cross.
Key Scriptures (NKJV):
-
Isaiah 53:4-5: "Surely He has borne our griefs and carried our sorrows; Yet we esteemed Him stricken, smitten by God, and afflicted. But He was wounded for our transgressions, He was bruised for our iniquities; The chastisement for our peace was upon Him, and by His stripes we are healed."
-
Matthew 8:16-17: "When evening had come, they brought to Him many who were demon-possessed. And He cast out the spirits with a word, and healed all who were sick, that it might be fulfilled which was spoken by Isaiah the prophet, saying: 'He Himself took our infirmities and bore our sicknesses.'"
-
James 5:14-16: "Is anyone among you sick? Let him call for the elders of the church, and let them pray over him, anointing him with oil in the name of the Lord. And the prayer of faith will save the sick, and the Lord will raise him up. And if he has committed sins, he will be forgiven."

Baptism in the Holy Spirit
The Baptism in the Holy Spirit is a distinctive doctrine of the Canadian Assemblies of God. This truth explains the passion and power of our witness. Jesus promised His disciples that they would receive power from on high to be His witnesses. We believe this truth is just as relevant today as our movement continues to carry the message of the Gospel around the world.
The Baptism in the Holy Spirit provides believers with power for witnessing and living a life pleasing to God. It is a distinct experience from salvation, where Jesus, the Baptizer, fills the believer with the Spirit for an overflow of spiritual empowerment.
Key Scriptures (NKJV):
-
Acts 1:4: "And being assembled together with them, He commanded them not to depart from Jerusalem, but to wait for the Promise of the Father, 'which,' He said, 'you have heard from Me.'"
-
Acts 2:4: "And they were all filled with the Holy Spirit and began to speak with other tongues, as the Spirit gave them utterance."
-
Acts 10:44-46: "While Peter was still speaking these words, the Holy Spirit fell upon all those who heard the word. And those of the circumcision who believed were astonished, as many as came with Peter, because the gift of the Holy Spirit had been poured out on the Gentiles also. For they heard them speak with tongues and magnify God."
-
Luke 24:49: "Behold, I send the Promise of My Father upon you; but tarry in the city of Jerusalem until you are endued with power from on high."
This doctrine emphasizes that the Baptism in the Holy Spirit is an integral part of the Gospel and a testimony to the power and love of God.

The Second Coming of Christ
The doctrine of Christ’s Second Coming is a cornerstone of our faith, offering believers the assurance of hope and the promise of eternal reunion with our Savior. In a world filled with uncertainties, natural disasters, and economic challenges, this truth remains a beacon of light. We affirm the imminent return of Jesus Christ, a moment when the dead in Christ will rise, and the living believers will be caught up to meet Him in the air. This event, often referred to as "Our Blessed Hope," is a call to readiness and a reminder to share this hope with others.
Scripture References (NKJV):
-
Matthew 24:30-31: "Then the sign of the Son of Man will appear in heaven, and then all the tribes of the earth will mourn, and they will see the Son of Man coming on the clouds of heaven with power and great glory. And He will send His angels with a great sound of a trumpet, and they will gather together His elect from the four winds, from one end of heaven to the other."
-
Mark 13:26-27: "Then they will see the Son of Man coming in the clouds with great power and glory. And then He will send His angels, and gather together His elect from the four winds, from the farthest part of earth to the farthest part of heaven."
-
Luke 21:34-36: "But take heed to yourselves, lest your hearts be weighed down with carousing, drunkenness, and cares of this life, and that Day come on you unexpectedly. For it will come as a snare on all those who dwell on the face of the whole earth. Watch therefore, and pray always that you may be counted worthy to escape all these things that will come to pass, and to stand before the Son of Man."
-

-
1 Corinthians 15:51-52: "Behold, I tell you a mystery: We shall not all sleep, but we shall all be changed—in a moment, in the twinkling of an eye, at the last trumpet. For the trumpet will sound, and the dead will be raised incorruptible, and we shall be changed."
-
1 Thessalonians 4:16-17: "For the Lord Himself will descend from heaven with a shout, with the voice of an archangel, and with the trumpet of God. And the dead in Christ will rise first. Therefore, since all these things will be dissolved, what manner of persons ought you to be in holy conduct and godliness, looking for and hastening the coming of the day of God, because of which the heavens will be dissolved, being on fire, and the elements will melt with fervent heat? Nevertheless we, according to His promise, look for new heavens and a new earth in which righteousness dwells."
-
Revelation 1:7: "Behold, He is coming with clouds, and every eye will see Him, even they who pierced Him. And all the tribes of the earth will mourn because of Him. Even so, Amen."
